The Tallis Scholars: Live in Rome

Overview

Under the direction of Peter Phillips, noted British a cappella group the Tallis Scholars celebrates Italian composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's 400th anniversary with this 1994 concert filmed in Rome's Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. The singers' voices soar in the majestic setting, and the church's sacred imagery underscores the devotional nature of Palestrina's intensely beautiful music.
